New Year’s Resolutions

One of my New Year’s resolutions was to start blogging.

I know, in the new age of Twitter, blogging has become something of a dying art. The days when I would scrub through my RSS feeds daily, if not hourly, are long gone. But when I’m working on something and get stuck or have a problem, I search for a clue, and the answer is often on somebody’s blog.

So in the spirit of maximizing the value of your keystrokes, I started writing fewer emails and posting less to corporate wikis. Instead, if I figure something out, I’ll post it to my blog for the whole world to see, and possibly correct when I’m wrong. Of course some stuff remains locked away to die on a corporate wiki. But hopefully less and less as time goes on.

As you can see below, I didn’t wait until January 1st to start blogging. I set up a blog with Tumblr and started writing up notes from the iPhone Tech Talk I attended in Toronto. (I had intended to start with the Voices That Matter iPhone conference in Boston, but that didn’t happen yet.) Whenever I figure something out, I’ll write it up and post it here for you.

Anyway, now that 2010 has started, I’ve paid for my evaluation copy of Mars Edit. Tumblr’s web interface is just too clumsy, and I’m paranoid about writing long stretches of text into a web form. Red Sweater Software is a one-man indie shop and Daniel deserves support for his efforts. Mars Edit is full of thoughtful touches and I he hope makes it even better in the new year.

Speaking of which. I’ve got my own software to work on. Catch you later!
